A four bedroom home built around a protected pūriri tree.
Our team built this four bedroom home in 2000, and every part of it was crafted with care. It is still looking good.
The council applied a protection ruling to the large pūriri tree as a significant native, so the team built the house around it, with extra reinforcing in the foundations and landscaping. The deck joists are spaced to give the trunk room to grow, and the hole in the deck can be trimmed as it does. At night the tree is wrapped in lighting, and the birds love it.
Catherine did the interior design, landscaping and planting scheme. The garden is coming into its own as a tranquil, easy care city oasis, with the house opening onto a generous entertaining area. It is another special place to come home to.
